BIG NATIONALS WINNERS

The 2025 Corvette Nationals in Parkes, NSW, provided a fantastic result for the Surfcoast Corvettes club, with a stack of trophies won by our members.

Rob & Maria Humphries retained their title of Best Original C4, which they won at the last Nationals in Ballarat 2023, by winning the same category this year in Parkes.

Peter Scholer followed up his win at Ballarat, where he won Best Modified C2 with his 1966 C2 ‘Resto-mod’, this time winning with a new car, his 2008 C6 Coupe. Peter won not only the Best Original C6 but also scored the trophy for the Best C6 Interior. Peter will need to put his building skills to work to build a bigger Trophy Shelf to park all his trophies.

But the biggest winner of all was the Supple family, with Stuart not only taking out the trophy for the Best Original C7, but due to the high score attained in the judging of his car, he scored the points required to win the trophy for the Best Corvette in Show !

This was a magnificent result for our small club, up against the might of the 200+ member clubs. Surfcoast Corvettes has attended four National Conventions – Bendigo in 2016, Gold Coast in 2019, Ballarat in 2023 and now Parkes in 2025. We had one winner in 2016 with Betty Andre’s C3, two in 2023 (Rob and Peter), and now three winners in 2025 (with five trophies). We have only missed out on a trophy in 2019.

There have been only six Nationals held in the last ten years – three were cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, and last year (2024) was cancelled due to confusion about who was due to hold it. Our club has only missed two of these Conventions since we were formed. These were the NSW Nationals in 2017 (not sure why), and the WA Nationals in 2018, which we considered a little too far to travel. Maybe next time!
