You may have noticed that, this year, there are two different Colac Car Shows being advertised.
The first one that comes up is the Colac Motor Fest which takes place over the 20th & 21st Jan, which is this weekend. This entails a Saturday Cruise, a Drive-In Movie night, and a Sunday Car Show at the Colac Showgrounds.
The second show, which is the traditional show our club attends, is the Colac Show ‘n’ Shine right in the centre of town at the Memorial Square, taking place on Saturday, 2nd March. This event is run by the Colac RSL, supporting veterans and their families. This show was originally set up, due much to the efforts of the late Brian Splatt, a member of both our club and other Victorian Corvette Clubs. Brian was a tireless supporter of car clubs and shows in the area.
We will discuss this show at the next club meeting on 7th February, and will assign a time and meeting place for the run down to Colac. We normally meet in the carpark of the Grovedale Hotel on Torquay Road.
We will send out the details for the event in plenty of time for everyone. This has always been a good show with a large attendance and we like to attend each year in honor of our former member and his family. Judy Splatt and daughter Sam are honorary life members of Surfcoast Corvettes.
