This year’s Torquay Rotary Motor Show took place, as usual, on the second Sunday in February, which this year was the 9th February, 2025.
The car show had its usual high number of entries, including a very nice range of cars. The HSV Club was well represented, as always, with a range of immaculate vehicles which were beautifully presented. The VW Combies were there in force again, and a notable collection of European Supercars were on display with some magnificent Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

We presented our cars in the usual layout with the “Generation Boards” out in front of the cars to alert the public as to the change of appearance of each new generation. We were able to present at least one of each generation of Corvette in our display – from C1 through to C8. We ended up with some 17 cars in our display.
It proved to be a little too windy to put up our gazebo, but we were able to gather together in our usual spot to set up our food on the tables and enjoy the day.
However, the highlight of the day was when the awards were handed out. We eagerly awaited the announcement of the Best Club Display winner, which we have won twice before. We knew we had good opposition from the HSV Club, which has also previously won the trophy.
However, when the announcement was made, the announcer said “It was a close competition, but the Corvettes have won it again this year”. It was with great excitement we sent jade, our President, up to receive the trophy. This particular trophy is now named after the late Greg Plumridge, a good friend of our club, who had run the Torquay Car Show for many years. The trophy was presented by Greg’s wife Helen. We spoke with Helen briefly about Greg and were all a little emotional about the occasion.
